Preparedness Is Everybody's Job!

As we read the paper and watch the TV news everyday, we see disasters strike communities in this country an all over the world.

WeatherIt's up to every individual to educate themselves on how they would respond if we in the Borough of Monaca happen to be involved in an emergency incident whether it be at home or in another community.

Emergency incidents that could happen here are Fire, Severe Thunderstorms, Tornados, Lightning, Flash Flooding, Winter Storms, Heavy Snow, Blizzards, Utility Failures (Water, Gas, Phone systems and Electric), Nuclear Power Plant, and Transportation Hazardous Materials (Land, Air, Water and Rail).

We should be prepared and know what to do in the event of an emergency. Emergency services may be over whelmed to respond.

Have a Plan, Be Informed, Be Prepared and Be Involved!

The Borough of Monaca Emergency Management is responsible for implementing, reviewing, and updating the Emergency-Operating Plan. The Emergency Operating Plan (EOP) contains annexes for each borough department delineating what their responsibilities are in the event of an emergency or disaster.

The Emergency Operating Plan is reviewed by the Monaca EMA Coordinator and approved every 2 years by the FEMA, PEMA, and Beaver County Emergency Management. The Borough of Monaca Council then approves the Emergency Operating Plan.

EM LogoMonaca became a StormReady Community November 2010. Monaca is the 8th Community in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to become StormReady under the National Weather Services program.
