On October 5th, 2013 Borough of Monaca Emergency Management Coordinator Jeffery S. McKay received KEMA Keystone Emergency Management Association Municipal Coordinators Award.

The Municipal Coordinator Award is presented to a KEMA member in good standing and identified as the coordinator of local municipality. The candidate will have demonstrated exemplary performance as indicated by a level of excellence or achievement that is above and beyond what is considered the normal of duties of the candidate. Nominations for this award may be made by any County Coordinator who is a KEMA member in good standing or the candidates elected official.
 
The award was presented by Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency Deputy Director Robert Full and KEMA President-Beaver County Emergency Management Director Wesley Hill. Douglas Shields was also awarded a Municipal Coordinator Award for 2013. The mission of the Keystone Emergency Management Association (KEMA) is to foster and promote a high degree of capability and competency of the Emergency Management professionals and volunteers in every political subdivision of the Commonwealth by contributing to the common cause of protecting lives and property from both man-made and natural disasters through education, sharing of information and encouragement of partnerships with emergency response organizations.
 
EMA Coordinator Jeff McKay also completed all of the Municipal EMA Certification Programs (Basic, Advanced and Professional Levels.
