is the place for "one-stop shopping" for complaint resolutions.

The Neighborhood Services Department is responsible for enforcing state and local laws relating to health and safety, property maintenance standards and land use regulations. Our goal is to maintain consistency with the Boroughs General Plan and to provide courteous, effective and efficient service which will enhance property values by reducing visual blight in Monaca neighborhoods. Part of meeting this goal is educating citizens concerning local, state and federal regulations that affect them.

The overall goal of the  Neighborhood Services Officer is not to continually generate large numbers of Public Nuisance cases from year to year, but to actually decrease the case load year to year by educating citizens as to the importance and need for code compliance.

 Neighborhood Services Department activities are subdivided into three specialized groups, Reactive, Proactive, and Problem Oriented Policing. Each group is structured to implement the overall goals of the Division.

The Neighborhood Services Department

The Neighborhood Services Department was created to bring together staff from the various Borough departments that provide services to the neighborhoods. The team coordinates neighborhood issues and makes Borough services more accessible to Monaca's neighborhoods. In addition to creating new programs and services, Team members are responsible for responding to neighborhood issues related to their respective departments. The mission of the team is to:

• provide coordinated responses
• prevent duplication
• concentrate efforts on neighborhood issues

The Team

The Neighborhood Services Officer provides community compliance (code enforcement) services with the goal of improving the Borough's quality of life and economic vitality. The Neighborhood Services Officer receives and responds to complaints of possible Borough Ordinance violations, and works with the community and Borough Departments to achieve timely code compliance and resolution to community problems and concerns.
